Adoption
is a wonderful, heartwarming experience, but it is also a difficult and perilous journey. Adoption from foreign countries
is further complicated by different political, cultural, social and medical environments, mostly unknown to American physicians
and other health care and adoption specialists. Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other countries of the former Soviet Union
have their own unique adoption landscape complicated by years of Communism and unique Russian culture that sits on the border
of western and eastern worlds.
Dr. Milana Stavitsky's cross-cultural training makes her uniquely qualified to interpret
complex, and often controversial, Russian medical histories and diagnoses. The services provided by Dr. Stavitsky and the
staff of Universal Pediatrics include the review of your prospective Child's medical chart including original Russian records,
photographs and videotapes, advice on your travel to Russia, and pre-adoption consultation with Dr. Stavitsky from your first
referral until your child arrives home to the United States. Additionally, Dr. Stavitsky will provide you with a medical report
of her findings and recommendations for the appropriate medical care of your child. Families residing in the Greater Boston
Area are welcome to join Dr. Stavitsky private practice when they return to the United States with their child
Dr.
Stavitsky is available to consult with you in person, via telephone, and over email. On behalf of the entire staff at Universal
Pediatrics, we wish you the best and welcome the opportunity to assist you with your adoption process.
